Wireless Sensor Development for Urban Farmers
Early-stage Start-up (2013-2014)
Aquaponics, which combines aquaculture and agriculture in a closed-cycle ecosystem, enable plants to be grown soilless, with 80% less water, and be organically fertilized with fish waste. It enables farmers to farm vegetables and fishes simultaneously and sustainably.
But operating and scaling an aquaponic farm is challenging without proper sensors and control systems. Despite the growing demand, these products are not widely available or optimized for this emerging, renewable farming method. Without a proper sensing and control system, farmers cannot collect and leverage the data to improve yield and day-to-day operations.
Smartgrow aims to address this problem, so that in the near future, everyone can easily grow food organically, locally and intelligently.
